When thousands of people donate no more than $100 per person per election, we can build a campaign without money from special interests. _______________________ But it's about more than money. We need your energy and your enthusiasm, too. Sign up to volunteer on Jim Hansen's campaign for Congress.

Cooper Withdraws, Endorses Jim Hansen for Congress
Pocatello - In a surprise move, Democratic Congressional District 2 candidate Craig Cooper announced he was withdrawing from the race and endorsing his opponent, Jim Hansen. "There is one person here tonight who has proven experience uniting Idaho's families. That man is Jim Hansen, and I am formally announcing my support for Jim for Congress," Cooper said.
Cooper made the announcement at a candidate forum sponsored by the Idaho State University College Democrats. He explained he would be leaving Idaho in September for “a prestigious opportunity to serve a year-long Congressional Science Fellowship.” Cooper said, “Between now and September, I'll be traveling eastern Idaho campaigning for Jim and for the many other Idaho Democrats who are fighting for Idaho's common values."
Hansen accepted Cooper's endorsement and thanked him for his support. Hansen said, "Craig and I have worked hard to run campaigns that respect voters."
Hansen, who now has no primary opponent, went on to discuss his plans to run a different kind of general election campaign and his decision to limit contributions to $100 per individual. "It's a stand I've taken because of my convictions and my belief that Idahoans know what our state needs most. When massive amounts of private money flow through our political system, it shuts regular people out of the process. I will listen to Idahoans as my family and I travel the district and work to protect what makes our state great."
Cooper emphasized his intentions to return to Idaho. “These non-partisan fellowships are sponsored by America’s scientific societies and will provide me with a unique experience that I can bring back to Idaho to help fight for our families.” Tara Rowe, who helped to organize the event with ISU College Democrats, left impressed with both Hansen and Cooper. "Jim definitely has my support. He has so much integrity and wants to really clean up the process back in Washington. I am excited to help on his campaign."
